APM has invested in the latest equipment for the determination and adjustment of tie-bar tension. As well as ensuring that newly commissioned machines are correctly set up, we can check that existing machines have equal tension across all four bars. This is critical for all toggle machines, as numerous issues can occur if the bars do not stretch evenly:

• Excessive wear to pins & bushings
• Uneven clamping force across platens can lead to flashing
• In extreme cases, tie-bars can fatigue and snap

Our highly trained Service Engineers now have access to the Grefran QE1008-W-08 SET Sensormate Wireless Testing System. They use an app to measure and adjust tie-bar tension, as demonstrated in this instructional video.
